Serious Talent

Now I crosstitch, but I don't really consider that a difficult skill. I think anyone with a little patience and the ability to count could manage it. However, when it comes to sewing and quilting, I am a bit in awe of what some people can do. My mother-in-law definitely fits into the sewing genius category. Just check out this blanket that she basically threw together when she found out we were having Daisy.

It is adorable and extremely soft on the underside (all white underneath). I think she has an amazing talent. I could sew squares together if I had to, but this is another thing altogether. She would probably want you to know that she saved the space in the middle for the first and middle name, but we were so slow coming up with Grace that she eventually filled it in as you see it. I personally really like the oops-a-Daisy.

  2. That is the cutest quilt ever!

My MIL is a extreme quilter. She plans vacations around quilt shops, and always has at least 6 quilts that she's working on at one time. And of course she's made a bunch of quilts for my kids. She even made a custom designed quilt for my bedoom.

I'm glad I get to benefit from her awesome talents, too. :)

  5. She's good. I think quilting would be so tricky and time-consuming. Your cross stitching is really good too.

  8. That is absolutely gorgeous, and makes my cross-stitching talent seem almost like a waste of time! Gosh, that is beautiful. You are, indeed, fortunate to have somebody like her with such amazing talent. Maybe you should put that quilt in the fair next year and surprise her with a blue ribbon!
