Thanksgiving was fantastic, and it was followed by another quick trip up to Idaho. I wish we could stay longer than one day, but it seems we often have things to get back to. In this case, that Sunday, I was speaking in church, Pearl had a talk, June was teaching a lesson, and Ivory had a scripture, so needless to say, our clan could only stay up in Idaho for a brief moment.
But it was a very important moment. Jack was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I still have memories of my own baptism, although they aren't as sharp as I would like them to be. (Most of my memories are hazy nowadays.) I still remember how life-changing that one step can be and is. I am daily grateful for my membership in this church and for my Savior.
It is even more special at this time of year when there are so many reminders of the Savior. I was reading The Three Trees to Pearl the other day and as usual, I can not make it through that book without crying. It touches my spirit and try as I might, I am always overwhelmed by the significance, majesty, and power of the Savior and His life here on earth.
I'm hope Jack will have years and years to learn more about his decision and the blessings that come with it. He looked good in white.
After, it was fun to get pictures. I'm sad that not all the cousins could be there. Hinckley had recently received a blood transfusion and it wasn't a good time for him to be around crowds. But it was nice to see Jack and Rozzlyn.
And of course the littlest cousin. All my girls love to see and hold Henlee. They like to take turns, and it is nice to have this time...she won't be little for long. Robyn was very sweet with her.
Ivory made sure to get her turn as well. I love this picture with the sun behind these two.
I'm already excited for the next baptism in our family. That will be Daisy. I hope her day will be special as well, and hopefully a bit warmer. (There are some benefits from summer birthdays.)
Congrats Jack! You are such a fine young man. We are so happy you are part of our family.
What a special moment in a young man's life. I didn't get baptized until I was 24, and it is a bit hazy for me as well. Must be my advanced years. Great to see the family together.
