Family Crack

Things were so busy in the month of April that we had to plan our Crack Off for the morning time before school. We wanted to find a time that J.R. could participate with us and with work schedules, etc, that ended up being the wee hours of the morning. However, we randomly were all together the evening before, so we went with plan B. Plan B was if everyone happened to be in the same room, we would have an insta-crack-off and it worked well.

Eggs were already decorated and that was the most important thing. Look at our creations from this year.

The competition is always fierce around here. And it is always hard to pick a favorite. Every year I feel like five votes is not enough. Here are all the eggs being scrutinized for their decorative prowess.

In the end, my Pascal egg came in first, followed by June's Megg, and J.R. took third with his elephant. (We told him he should feel very proud to be in the top three.)

Now comes the exciting and sad part, where we take all this hard work and smash it to bits, much like Tyler did to one of my dessert plates recently. (Luckily there is super glue, although it won't help these eggs.)

I'm loving our new corral. It fits perfectly on the table and gives us a bit more room to roll the eggs. Look at the men killing it.

On the back of Dad's egg, it said KISS ME GOODBYE. Sure enough, his egg didn't make it.

Here I am reaching for Pascal. (Spoiler: He didn't make it.)

I don't know what June is celebrating here, but she reminds me of She-Ra.

We are getting down to the final few.

Our winner was June. Her egg never cracked. We finally rolled her two eggs against each other to find an ultimate winner. Here we are eggzamining to see if Meggamind or the Megg came out victorious.

Looks like it was Meggamind. A gigantic shark is no match for him. Ivory came in second place. Good job girls!

It was a good Crack Off, even if it was a bit rushed. But I couldn't imagine a year without it. I know for sure this is a tradition the kids will carry on forever. (Or as long as chicken lay eggs.)
