Crack-a-Lackin'

Being stuck in quarantine doesn't mean we can't carry on with some famous Cazier traditions. The Crack-off is much anticipated each year and even though we can't share it with friends and neighbors this year, we always have a family one.

Tuesday, I woke up and started boiling eggs. Then we got out dye and sharpies. All day the kids came through creating eggs. Vinegar and boiled eggs...now that is a smell that will evoke memories someday.

The girls came up with some super cute eggs. Check out our creations.

Although these eggs had different names, together they were Sunset and Twilight Speckles. The girls liked the effects when the dye left spots on the eggs.

We had some themed eggs this year. We recently watched the Care Bear Movie and June and I did characters from that. (On the back of the Evil Spirit, it says, "They Don't Care" and June has a cute raccoon tail on the back of hers.)

And of course, Corona and the poor victim. 

We put all our eggs on display and then voted on them. Funny (but sad) story: Everyone was done voting and Tyler noticed that he never gave his eggs name cards. But no one else had noticed because they hadn't voted for his. Oops, sorry Dad.

Who were the design winners this year? In first place was Brightheart by June, second was Strawberry Fields Forever by Robyn, and third was Pina by Daisy. Such cute eggs, gals.

Then the moment when we destroy all these lovely creations in the name of friendly competition.

There was some definite destruction for some eggs.

In case, you were wondering, Brightheart beat the Evil Spirit, but unfortunately, Corona beat the Victim. In fact, Corona took out everyone in its wake. Ivory was the last defender with her Peep-a-boo. Will she conquer?

Nope. Tyler won it all with Corona. (I'm really hoping that isn't some bad omen or self fulfilling prophecy. I take heart that Robyn came back and beat Corona with her strawberry. She hadn't used her strawberry in the competition. Too bad. It was the only thing that could take on Corona. So...eat your strawberries people.)

I was not able to get out and get prizes for anyone, but Robyn found the gold and silver egg and put papers inside. In the silver egg, it said, "You participated and ALMOST won. (1st place has candy in their egg...maybe they will share?)" That was a lie. The only thing in the gold egg was another note that said, "You thought this was a prize? That's cute. At least you won a golden egg." What a peach.

It was still a great day and we had lots of fun. Here is some egg spinning at the end. We hope you all have a wonderful Easter this weekend. Crack some eggs for us.
