I posted about Room Changing not too long ago in April and I said that we would probably move rooms earlier. Well, we did. As soon as school was officially done in May, we got to work moving everyone around. Because we were slow last year and quick this year, the girls only spent 7 months in those rooms, instead of a possible 12, but that is okay. Change is good and we needed something to do.
I almost forgot to take BEFORE pictures. Pearl was all moved out of the basement when I remembered, but I got most of them.
It went faster this time. No school to interfere and no painting. (Not that children didn't ask.) We worked and moved the girls over about one room a day. And just like that, everyone had a new space.
Robyn does not let people sit on her bed, but while she was moving, she let everyone take a turn sitting on the extra cushion top. (We got her bed an extra soft layer when she was down in the "Guest" room, but she claimed it.) Nova especially liked it. You can see how she is kind of sunk down into it.
Here is the Neapolitan Room (as I like to call it) before and after. This is where Robyn moved to.
The Hot Air Balloon room is where June took up residence. I really like how organized her closet is. (Love me a nice closet.)
The Green Room got a nice overhaul for Pearl.
Ivory went down to Atlantis in the small room. She wanted to point out how amazing it is that her birthday balloon is still floating five months after her birthday. That is determination on the balloon's part. (I don't blame it. Any balloons getting near the floor are a feast for the dog.)
And finally Daisy who took over the big room in Atlantis. She likes to decorate her bed in different blanket layers. I like the evening shot she took on a later day.
There you have it. Once again, we shuffled everyone around. Once again, we got rid of a lot of stuff. It is so fulfilling to put a dozen boxes out for MS. We may never get rid of all the clutter, but we'll keeping beating it back.

Robyn's 16 Year Gallery
Once again, I'm a little behind on photo shoots, but that is pretty standard. But Robyn and I chose a day to go out and it happened to be beautifully overcast. I couldn't have asked for better weather or a cuter subject. I got a lot of personality and sass coming through in this shoot. Robyn also did henna on her hand and you can see that in several pictures. She is a wild child in many ways. But her heart is good. I'll keep her. Enjoy all the fun sides of Robyn.
I often let the girls choose their wall photo that will go up in the house. Robyn chose one that expresses her skeptical side. I see this look quite often.
We haven't gone out for a treat. She wasn't hungry that night so we put it off until later. But I like the promise of a treat later.

Art Theme: Mythical Beasts
I'm a little out of order. I didn't get last week's art on here with the Disney theme. Sorry Disney, I didn't get all the art for you, so I'm shamelessly skipping you to make way for Mythical Beasts. This was such a fun theme and we got so many awesome projects. I love them all. Enjoy, enjoy.
Cazier's up first. This first one is deceptive. It is a very tiny Rock Giant. He is only about two inches high. Daisy built him from pieces in a board game.

This is a Christmas Gnome. (To be clear, gnomes are mythical, but Christmas isn't.)

Another tiny one, but you can tell the size by my lovely thumb in the picture.

Tricia sent in a few by her girls. I really love the last one. What a interesting interpretation. So original.

Last but certainly not least is art from my mom. She did another fun slide show and we took several pictures out of it. She put it to the song Flying Purple People Eater. (There are so many versions of him. So fun.)

And this may be the creepiest piece we had this week. I hope I never run into this creature.

Did your favorite mythical creature make the cut? Or maybe your new least favorite?
We are getting towards the end of our Summer Art. I will really miss it. We have had so many fabulous creations. Next week is Dad Jokes.
Washing Cars
I will be the first to admit that we don't have diligent upkeep on our cars. We clean the car out weekly, so no food, clothes, or crayons are left in there to die. (Whatever, food and crayons are strictly forbidden, but plenty of clothes end up in there.) But deep cleaning or outside cleaning isn't as vigilant.
Car washing is expensive, so Tyler taught the girls the other day. I think he borrowed a pressure washer and that helped. I think most of the girls helped, but you only see Pearl and June building character here.
After being dried, the cars were so nice and shiny.
Let's talk about our current vehicles. They are part of the family you know. I certainly get attached to my cars. Here is the neon. Tyler drove this car for a really long time. When it was time to get a new one, it wasn't even worth $200 in trade in, so we kept it. It will probably be Robyn's transportation when she gets her license. Yes, she is very grateful we didn't give it away.
This is June's ride. She adores this truck. It is a little run down, but June loves that it is stick shift and she knows how to drive it. Being stick, it also means that her sisters don't know how to drive it and that means it is definitely hers. We keep reminding her that we bought it, so it is ours, but she often forgets. He is affectionately called Ironman.
This is Tyler's current vehicle. He doesn't love it and I hear rumors he's going to sell it or do something with it this month. We'll see. It isn't my favorite to drive. The mirrors are too high for me. But I do love the color.
This is my sweet ride. Don't knock it. I love a van! It holds all my peeps and all the junk that comes with them. I call her Maude, but most of the time, we just say the Van. (We don't use names often with the vehicles.) I adore my car and I'm so happy to have her. And she sure is shiny.
I know the clean will only last a moment, but I can admire for that moment and then bully the kids into cleaning the cars again.
