Melts My Heart

I had to wake Daisy up early today because I wanted her to take an early nap before morning activities. She has often been awake before at 6:30, but not this morning. She was sawing Z's while I picked her up and put her on my shoulder. I snuggled her back to my room and she was immediately back asleep.

So I took a second to look at my sleeping baby. It isn't a sight I see very often. You see, I put her down when she is still awake and I come back and get her when she has awakened once more. I do check on her at night or at nap times, but those are just little peeks to see that she is alright and I quickly leave so I don't disturb her. Therefore it is not often that I get to gaze on my baby slumbering peacefully.

She was so beautiful with her plump baby lips and creamy skin. Her little eyelashes fluttered every now and then and she would sigh ever so softly in her sleep. I finally placed her next to Dad so I could grab a shower before the day began, but as I stole one last look at my sleepers, I took a picture to remember.

It reminds me of that little poem. There are several versions and a nurse gave me one when I left the hospital with my first baby. Little did I know how true it would be.

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
for children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

  1. So precious. I love to sneak peeks of the boys sleeping - I just love to see how peaceful and calm they are, and I often wonder whey they can't be so calm in waking moments. It's especially cute when they're with daddy sleeping!
