Birthday Piercings

Even though her birthday was during the summer of quarantine, Daisy was still pretty spoiled. Let's take you through her day. 

BREAKFAST

I made breakfast for Daisy. As any of my kids can tell you, this is special, since I am NOT a breakfast mom. So clearly I love her enough to get up and make German Pancakes. 

GIFT OPENING

This needed to happen first thing after breakfast. You can see that Daisy didn't even bother getting dressed. Based on packaging, she could guess what some of her gifts were. She is pretty excited for this squish-mallow sized gift.

We almost never have birthday wrapping paper around, so everyone uses Christmas paper. I did like that Robyn added details to the Santa's on her paper. They really made me laugh.

You know you've wrapped it well when it's a two person job to open it.

Glow cats are all the rage, at least around here.

Daisy takes the process of opening gifts very seriously.

Her big gift was a Nook. This is a huge gift for this bookworm. Not so much because of the Nook, but because of the account that Grandma Dargan shared with her. Now Daisy has access to hundreds of books thanks to Grandma. That is a pretty fantastic gift.

EAR PIERCING

Then I took Daisy out to get her ears pierced, but with Covid, you have to make an appointment in advance. Oops. So we scheduled to come back in the evening.

BALLOONS

Since we had some time to kill, we decided it was a good time for balloons. Daisy requested some balloons to pop over her head but also a couple helium ones as well. Pearl and I went shopping and found the cutest sloth balloon for her. It was adorable. Then in the parking lot, the string tied to it wasn't secured well, so it slipped away, up into the blue. We just watched in shock as the sloth departed. 

I said to Pearl, "Maybe someone really needed that sloth balloon..." and without a blink she finished the sentence with "... in Canada." Hahaha.

We went back inside but that was the only sloth balloon they had, so we got something else. RIP sloth.

We had a lot of fun popping balloons on Daisy. She got all the water ones of course. 

She got some, challenges, money, candy, and hairties.

The best was the challenge to describe her sisters using adjectives starting with the letters in their names. Who knew it could be such a struggle. She didn't always come up with the kindest adjectives, but it sure was funny.

EAR PIERCING AGAIN

Second try for the ears and we were successful. It was a little different than the other kids because of the mask, but basically the same.

Daisy looks like she is deeply pondering how it is going to feel with holes in her ears, but really she is just holding the mask down out of the way.

One down, one to go.

She was such a champ. No tears or winces. And you can see that smile right through her mask. She's been waiting for this day a long time.

CAKE

Daisy asked for an angel food cake with strawberries and cream. I know I have seen box mixes at the store before, but I couldn't find any this year. (Covid?) So I made one from scratch. Always good to try new things. It turned out pretty well. It wasn't the prettiest, but it was super tasty. You can tell from the way Daisy slurped it up.

I would say that she had a great birthday. She is a super awesome kid who is growing too fast. She'll pass me up in height this year. But she will always be one of my babies.
