Ocean Spee-ikeball

(February 5th, 2023)

By now we had a nice routine going in the mornings. Tyler would go save seats and meditate and he would often run into Jason. Then we'd go to breakfast and if anyone was around, we would eat with them. This morning, the Turner's were in the vicinity, so we ate together, which worked well for our continued pursuit of photos with Jason in the background.

Then we'd head to the beach for the day. This is the first day that a cat came out on the sand. Usually you just see them lying on the paths or hanging out near the restaurant. Some are very friendly. This one let us hold him.

The big thing for the day was trying out the Spikeball Flotation set that Granny V gave us last summer. She brought it to Bear Lake not knowing that it was an add-on and you needed an original set as well. (I hadn't brought Spikeball since I was lamenting not having June with us.) But I took the flotation set home and had no use for it, until now. And it was epic. Playing in the water is a totally different feel. Everything has to be a bit smaller and you can't run for anything cuz...water. But SO fun!

Jason got some fun, different shots for us. He always had the drone going or his 3D camera. He is better at documenting than anyone I know. You'd better believe that I took advantage of his videos and stole pictures from my favorite videos.

This picture is awesome. I just hit the ball. Janille barely missed it as she dove for it, and Tyler is doing a Matrix move to avoid being hit by the ball, since he is on my team. Great action shot.

Aaah, sweet memories.

This last spikeball picture came from the video as it was fading out to white. The highlights in the sand are from the camera, but it gives the feel that we are jiving in a volcanic playground.

Okay, enough Spikeball. Both Tyler and I managed to get burned that day. It isn't surprising with the extra reflection from the water. I burned my upper legs and Tyler burned his back. (But that was only because he forgot to put sunscreen there. :)

I bought my Jamaican ornament for the Christmas tree. There were selling cute ones by the beach. Mine was the only one with birds on it.

In the evening, we tried out the other fancy restaurant, Lemon Grass. This one wasn't nearly as fancy, but you did have to make reservations to go. It was amazing!! Ten times as good as the other one. Everything was super tasty and the atmosphere was lovely. It was actually on the floor above the regular Palms buffet area, but with the tiki torches and the balcony, it felt like you were in another place altogether.

Many of us made reservations for the same night, but we ended up sitting at separate tables. But it is always nice to have a quiet evening with Tyler...and Jason.

On the same floor as Lemon Grass was the library.  They had fun books you could borrow and read (and a good selection too) but I already brought three books so I didn't need extra reading. Oh, and this lady who finished her read on the beach handed me her book since she didn't plan to take it home, so I was already going home with extra literature. The library did have these really weird seats. I've never seen anything like them. It was like a giant thumb tack. And if you were brave, you could hold on tight and swivel around in them.

We ended the evening in the Casino. We figured it would be a good place to play games. The Casino isn't operational right now and it hasn't been since Covid. There were a few slot machines, but we basically had the place to ourselves. We had a lot of fun playing Think N Sync and the 5 Second Rule.

What a satisfying day. Of course any day that I play Spikeball in the ocean is a satisfying day.
