Robyn Does All the Graduating

(May 24th, 2022)

It's that time of year when the world decides that some kids have had enough schooling and they are ready to do their own thing. I'm not sure I always agree, but kids are probably lucky their parents don't get to decide in this case.

And thus Robyn graduated. First up was Seminary graduation. Robyn's attendance was a bit sketchy this year as we learned that she should never have early morning seminary, but she made up all the missed days and graduated along with some other guys in our ward. (Robyn has never had any girls in her age group.)

I'm very proud of her. I hope that her time in Seminary has helped her come closer to Christ. Proximity to the Savior can only help you out in life.

Then of course there was the big graduation day. Robyn's grad announcements turned out super cute.

Robyn's graduation was in the afternoon, which worked out great. And it was super close to home, which was even nicer. We didn't have to drive far or worry about traffic. When we arrived, we could hear the jazz band playing. We couldn't see Robyn anywhere but I assumed she was up there somewhere. I kept looking and finally decided that she wasn't there. But we could hear the piano. I finally got up and hiked closer to get a better look. And I found her. She WAS down there playing the piano.

And I was able to find seats in that area which was a much better place to see everything. We had a good view of the front area. And we were able to see Robyn walk in. (After the band was done playing of course.)

She was actually very close to the front. There was only one row in front of her and somehow we lucked out with mask girl who spent a lot of time bending over, giving us a perfect view of Robyn.

It was a normal graduation meaning plenty of average speakers with some music interspersed. Robyn got up to play with the band so we tried to get some pictures of her. Notice she plays the tambourine in one. So cool.

Then she'd sit back down and mask girl would bend over. I hope mask girl was feeling okay and that she was more bored than ill.

Then it was time for the long walk. Out you go just to walk back in. And thanks for the finger heart. (Literally, my fingers will not do that.)

We were actually at the wrong angle for the walk through, so I took a picture of the big screen. Fancy.

Then we sat there for a really long time while all the other kids we didn't care about got their diplomas. Here we are...the happy audience.

Then we got to go find our lovely grad. Looking good and now the tassel is on the left. So official.

Gotta get a picture with each person.

Then we celebrated with some grub. It was a really good day. This is one chapter that is closed. Now she just has her whole life ahead of her.
