Roses are Red

Valentine's was sweet this year. The Young Women's leaders in our ward gave all the girls a rose. Then the girls did a little photo shoot that I found on my phone later. These are the kind of pictures that are so fun to run across later.

Beautiful flowers and beautiful girls. I think it is funny when they put the flower in front of their nose. Enjoy.

Sleeping on a Cloud

Daisy really enjoys sewing. Our second project in our little sewing group was pillow cases. But not just your standard pillow cases. These are the kind with a zipper, for throw pillows. Personally, I like the idea of zipper cases because then you can take the pillow out to wash the case. Most pillows become misshapen in the wash, so it is much better to wash the case separately.

Daisy is all about soft. She loves fuzzy, silky, fluffy, comfy, snuggly stuff. So it is not surprising that when we went to get fabric, she chose minky fabric. I've used it before, so I'm not a stranger to it, but for certain is a little harder to sew and sometimes a little slippery.

We cut out our pieces beforehand and showed up on Saturday morning. This ended up being a pretty quick project. It wasn't long before we had our zipper in. Daisy is testing out the fabric to see how soft it will be against her cheeks.

Now to sew up the edges. Daisy did a great job.

Get those corner turned out so the pillow form fits nicely.

I think it looks awesome.

We had less girls there that day. But the ones who finished did a great job.

Daisy's pillow instantly became a staple in her room. She has also made a couple since then for her sisters. Guess she can sleep easy knowing this is a great skill to be developing.

June's Senior Pictures Gallery

I think this may be the last gallery for June. Well, not including mission pictures and wedding pictures and stuff like that. But I think this is her last birthday photo shoot, that happens to double as her Senior Pictures.

This girl is just stunning. She is beautiful and kind. She is so fun to be around. I think she turned out pretty well for being the experimental first child. I believe her future is bright and will bring her joy and success, mainly because she will make it so.

She is motivated and determined. She is funny and sharp. She is helpful and generous. She is June. What more can I say? Enjoy these lovely photos.

I'm not supposed to put which High School she is graduating from (for privacy reasons) but this might give you a clue.

We had a delightful day at the Salt Flats. We grabbed dinner on the way home, but I forgot to snap a picture.

The Back Sync Direction Brothers

Every year at the High School, they have a Mega Concert in the Spring. It always has a theme and it is over the top with cool costumes and great songs. I always go to see it even though I haven't had any kids in choir. This year June decided to join choir and I'm so glad she did. It made the show just that much better. :)

The theme this year was Boys' Bands and there are plenty to choose from, all the way back from The Beatles to more modern groups like One Direction. I even found a few I had never heard of. June spent some time putting her costume together. She definitely had the 80s vibe going on; cornrows, blue eyeshadow, baggy jeans, and a windbreaker.

The show was appropriately named The Back Sync Direction Brothers. There are quite a few choirs at the school. There is Con Brio, which is all girls and Man Choir which is all boys. There are a few mixed choirs ranging in level. Each group sang a couple numbers and then there were quite a few small group numbers. Almost all of the songs were familiar and sung pretty well.

June was in two numbers with the girls choir. First they sang I Want You Back by NSync. Here are some photos and then a video. Since you know what June is wearing, you can probably find her.

Then they sang Quit Playing Games by the Backstreet Boys. I'll admit that I wasn't part of the Boy Band craze in the 80s. My parents didn't listen to the radio, or much music at all. I would see girls wearing huge buttons with guy bands on them, but I didn't care much. I sort of missed it all. And I'm fine with that.

All around, it was a really fun concert to go see. I'm glad that next year Ivory will be in choir. I can't wait to see what they come up with in 2022...

Some Bunny Loves You

I think someone could do well if they opened up a bunny therapy clinic. Baby bunnies are the best since when they are tiny, they don't run away or struggle. They are soft and sweet and perfect. But I can see some logistical problems with always trying to have baby bunnies on hand. Soon, you'll just have too many bunnies. Maybe you could set up a pet store next door. Or maybe a meat plant. Although that might destroy the sense of calm you are trying to create. Okay, maybe the idea needs work.

However, the girls and I got some bunny therapy recently. The baby bunnies were just the cutest. Their eyes were just opening and they loved to snuggle. It was heaven. They were the perfect size to fit in your hand as well.

Our neighbor's rabbit had four babies. So each person got to hold their own. (June did not come. I feel true sorrow for her missing this.)

At one point, Robyn was holding all four. They happily snuggle up with each other.

Here's the momma. She is all black and they call her Toothless. :) She is pretty sweet too, but can get a little feisty.

I could just die from bunny cuteness.

Look, this little guy has a heart on his nose.

I would  have taken one of these little guys home in a heartbeat if it wasn't for our apex predator at home. I guess I'll have to wait another decade before I can get a bunny.
