Are You There Moriarty?

Tyler found this extremely random parlor game and decided that the best way to try it out would be on the unsuspecting college kids.

The game is called, 'Are You There Moriarty?' It involves two players lying on their stomachs blindfolded with a rolled up newspaper in their hand. The other hand holds onto their opponent. One player asks, "Are you there Moriarty" and upon the person's reply, they try to hit them with their newspaper. I'm pretty sure we didn't play the game exactly right, but I certainly enjoyed our version.

First up were Zach and Ivory. I think the longer arms definitely give a player the advantage.

However, I seemed to do okay against Josh and his arms are much longer than mine. It also helps if you roll to one side or the other to avoid a blow.

Let's see the game in action. Zach has a few tricks up his sleeve.

Maddie and June are pretty funny. I'm not sure June ever figures out how to hit. You would think she would hit down, but she also swipes sideways.

Probably the funniest one was Tyler against Ivory. She is so tiny, she doesn't stand a chance...

For not even knowing how to play this game, we had a lot of laughs figuring it out. I guess it is just fun to be with these people. Zach also taught us a game where everyone has a number and sits in a small circle. The person in the middle is blindfolded and calls out two numbers. Those two people have to switch seats without the blindfolded person touching them, or stealing their seat. That was also a lot of fun. Family games are some of my favorite parts of being a mom.
