Flattery is the sincerest imitation...

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." Here's a phrase that historically comes from a book entitled, "Lacon," by Coined by Charles Caleb Colton in 1820.

I am quite certain he had never met my daughters, for when I looked upon my third and beheld the following, I felt indignantly flattered:

Where could my child have learned such mannerisms? How could this be? My child, whom I am raising to be a perfect angel, where could she have run across this gesture?

Must have been her mother, I'll bet she's flattered.

Lucky for us, no one saw this sincere imitation.
