9th Grade Awards Night

The 9th Grade Awards Night is a little tedious to be honest. However, they decided to make a few changes and that pushed it in the right direction, mostly time wise. In the past, they used to invite a girl and boy down from each category/class to receive an award. It took a really long time. So this year, they just announced the names, but didn't have them come down. Huzzah. It really helped on time.

They did have one group of kids come down in the category they thought was one of the most important...overall grades. Those kids who maintained a 4.0 GPA through all three years came down to receive an award. Do you recognize one of those kids? It's my Robyn. And look, she isn't the shortest one there. (Btw, she is wearing black because she had to perform in Jazz Band, not because she is Goth.)

The rest of the awards ceremony flew by. (Not really, it was still boring, but at least it was faster than years previous.) At the end, the entire grade sings a song that most of them actually don't know. But Robyn wasn't in there. She was out in the hall setting up to play with the Jazz Band. No piano in the lunchroom...just the keyboard.

Mrs. Taylor came over to fiddle with the settings. It is hard to get the piano loud enough sometimes.

And there is my cute Robyn playing away. She had such fun in Jazz Band.

Here is a bit of the song. See if you can hear the small piano solo in It Don't Mean a Thing.

The art was on display as well, but I already showed you that stuff in an earlier post. So just know that we had a enjoyable evening celebrating Robyn's leaving another school behind and moving on to bigger and better things. Next stop...school with the older sister again.
