A few people had played Pickleball already, but it was time to get all of us out there. Or at least, everyone who wanted to play. Couples Swept Away is actually known for its tennis courts and instructors. They have lots of tennis courts, but only four pickleball courts, but as long as you don't mind playing in the afternoon (when it's hotter) you can usually get a spot. I'm ready to go play!
I've never packed sports equipment before, but on this trip I brought Spikeball and our paddles. I'm so glad I did. We used it all and it was so much fun. Pickleball was a blast, but we were all so sweaty by the end. We played couples and then ended with playing all girls and all boys. It was really fun to play with Caroline, Star, and Janille. They are all excellent players.
Whew, did I mention we were sweaty? On the sport side of the resort, you can get smoothies, but they seemed to be sparse on fruit. They only had melon, which was sad. I ordered a honey-dew and honey smoothie and it wasn't too bad, but I refused that cantalope stuff. That is just gross. And we drank lots of water too. Jason poured it over his head to cool down.
By the time we finished playing, it was time for lunch. More fish tacos? Yes please. That cafe was so good and you could get something new each time you went. Although I admit that I didn't steer far from fish tacos.
Phew, long day already. Time for a quick nap. I guess turn about is fare play. It looks like I have inadvertently become the photobomber?
Here are the bass and drum players. They sounded pretty good. Jason recorded them to use as a track behind some videos.
We were supposed to go on a catamaran ride, but it was canceled because the boat was having issues. So we came up with other ways to entertain ourselves. We borrowed a sand rake and the boys went to work making a huge HIVE sign. Tyler, using his feet, spelled out all the words. With Jason's drone taking pictures from above, it looked epic.
After some sand angels, we all walked through it until it was no more. Luckily, pictures last forever.
Tyler caught a starfish. He found it with his feet and he knew to hold it upside down in the water so it could be more comfortable while we admired it.
We played more spikeball of course. Here is proof of how magnanimous I am, since I'm not playing in one of those pictures. It is really hard for me to sit out, but everyone needs a turn.
Jamaica blessed us with another stunning sunset, so we had to take a few more pictures.
Dinner was a party, literally. Our table was up on a side stage, so we had a good view of the entertainment. They had a celebrity impression competition (Melody won!) and a fire dancer/breather. Too bad we weren't close enough to feel the heat.
After dinner they had a silent disco. I've never even heard of this, but it is one of my most favorite things ever. Everyone got headphones and you could change the color from red to blue to green. Green was nothing, but both red and blue were a different DJ. You could dance to the music and switch back and forth depending on what you wanted to listen to. I spent most of my time on red, since that DJ was more of an oldies rock and roll station, while blue was more techno and rap. It was such a blast. How could we make this work at a stake dance??
We were so hot and sweaty (again!) after the dancing that a few of us opted for a night swim. The water was cool but once you were in, it was really nice. Everyone had joked about going skinny dipping so we took the opportunity to spread out and remove our suits for a few seconds. There you go. Skinny dipping checked off the bucket list.
We ended the night in the jacuzzi to chase away the remaining chill. Don't worry, no skinny dipping there. ;)
