St. Patrick's Day is variable. We never know quite what is going to happen and it largely depends on whether Seamus is in town. But we are pretty good about remembering to leave out some gold just in case.
We make our wishes and drop our coins in the pot. Sometimes people hit the back of your head to help you on your way.
St. Patrick's Day was on a Sunday this year. We woke up and saw something on the table, but we didn't have time to investigate until after church. Dad managed to talk us all into wearing our green Cazier shirts to church. They aren't the fanciest, but you could definitely tell our family was wearing green.
Back at home, we discovered a game left by Seamus. He is back in town and he made us a game of chance. You rolled and followed the arrows. But if you rolled doubles and got a 1, you had to go back to the beginning. It was a fun little game with a touch of risk.
When the kids won, they took a prize from a bag. One seemed to have treats and the other had useful items. I think everyone got something they could use...or eat.
I always enjoy St. Patty's. We don't eat corn beef or cabbage, but I feel a closeness to our Irish ancestors. Do you think they pinched people? Where does that come from? (To be clear, that is not why I feel close to them. We don't pinch people. I was just wondering where that started.)
