Piano Recital

We have been doing piano lessons with Richard for quite a while now. Yet we have never done a recital before. For some reason, our schedules have never matched up right. This time Richard asked us well in advance and we put it in the calendar making sure nothing conflicted.

It was at a retirement home and it was actually a quite homey little room where the kids performed. Richard has quite a few students. You can see some of them in the background during the videos.

Daisy did a great job. Her song was called The Greatest Show on Earth. She had it memorized so she didn't even need to bring music.

Robyn played an arrangement of What Child is This by Josh Groban. It is a fun song and she was able to play with the melody and add her own little variations. Richard turned pages for Robyn since she didn't have it memorized. :)

It was an excellent evening. Richard has a wide range of students from beginners to some very advanced students. The rest of the family seemed to enjoy them all. Ivory and I took some selfies at the end. Don't worry, we didn't take these during performances. That would be disrespectful.

I'm very glad we were able to attend the recital this time. Richard has been such a fantastic teacher for the girls. He has so much talent and knowledge to share with the kids. He likes to call Robyn his grasshopper. He thinks she has a lot of natural talent for the piano.

All I know is that I love listening to any of the kids play. Daisy, Robyn, and even Ivory often sit down and play for a bit. It is one of my favorite things about the house. You never know when a melody will suddenly spring up and fill the air.
