Jaker's Minus One

Our annual trip to a pumpkin patch is mandatory. We've been going to Jaker's for a few years. I really like it. And the kids seem to enjoy it. This year, Tyler's Real Estate group HIVE paid for the family to go. That was really nice, but they happened to choose a day when Robyn was at a Marching Band competition. It can't be helped, but we missed having her with us.

Jaker's has a few things that are tradition:

1) The Corn Maze
I like the corn maze, but we have decided there is no rhyme or reason to it. Back in Pumpkinland, they had little things to find and a secret room to discover somewhere in the maze. At Jaker's, there is plenty of maze, but you always kind of know where you are. And you always know which way to go. If there was something to do I think it would be a lot better. However, we still enjoy running around. And even though we ran into a Witch Doctor, who shrunk Pearl's head, everything turned out all right in the end.

There were so many birds in the sky and flying around. It reminded me of the Hitchcock movie.

2) The Cuts Outs
We try to get the kids into a cutout. I only caught June and Pearl, but I think she is the cutest pig that ever did live.

3) The Corn Pit
They branched out this year. Before, Jaker's had one huge corn pit, but this time there were different areas across the park. They had a pit by the huge slide. They had the normal big pit, and then they had a new fountain pit. The corn was spewing from the top of a silo. It was cool, but actually very loud. The corn was cascading down the tin roof. Weird idea, but pretty fun.

Daisy found this little critter nearby. We watched him for a bit and he quickly pushed filling out until his hole was covered and unnoticeable. Good idea dude. There were tons of kids there. Daisy has a quick eye to spot him in the first place.

4) Sardines in the big maze
We love the big hay maze and we always play Sardines in there. It really isn't a complicated maze, but we get the most out of it. I think the kids played cops and robbers in there but that was after I ran head-long into June and bruised my knee, so I took a break.

5) Picking Pumpkins
Of course we have to get pumpkins because that is really why we come. HIVE supplied pumpkins for us, so we spent a little time roaming over the trailer o pumpkins. (Can you see the HIVE pavilion in the back?)

It is always a good time at Jaker's. And we made good use of our pumpkins making excellent creations that you can view here. See you next year Jaker's.
