Dynamic Duos - Sadie's 2019

June has had a lot of fun going to dances while she has been in High School, but this year has been a bit more fun because her best friends are old enough so they can all go together now. There is always much debate about who to ask and who is still available, but the girls always seem to find a nice guy to ask to the dance.

June decided to ask a friend named Hyrum. I helped her come up with a good way to ask. And when it comes to teenage boys, what could be better than food? We went to get a pizza and June wrote on the inside of the box.

Then she ditched it on his door. (It would have been awesome to have it delivered, but they were really busy that night and delivery was an hour out.)

Hyrum responded with a box of bouncy balls and war heads, with something like, "It would be a ball to go with you," but I totally forgot to get a picture. (But needless to say, he said yes.)

Often the dance will have a theme. Last year was Circus. This year was Dynamic Duos. That leaves plenty of possibilities. Christina, Hannah, and June thought about it for a while and settled on Phineas and Ferb characters. There was much debate about who would be who. Hannah seemed a shoe-in for Candice, with the red hair, but Hannah didn't want to be Candice. They seemed to get everything settled and when June called her date to tell him what they were planning, he asked if he could be Ferb. He already  had all the stuff for it. So they shifted everyone a little and it fell into place.

If June's date was Ferb, she was going to be Vanessa. (Any Phineas and Ferb watchers out there?) We got everything June needed, including some nice black boots. (This is where I'm glad we wear the same shoe size.)

June's looking good. I wasn't there that evening to help out (same weekend as TOFW) so she took a picture to send along.

They had lots of fun stuff planned. For their day date, they went over to Christina's and played Jack Box. At some point they took pictures with Christina's mom. Then for dinner, they ate at Hannah's, and the remainder of the evening was at our house, so when I got home I could see them. Let's check out these cute pictures. I can't help but put most of them on here because I think they are adorable.

The couples are Christina and Sam, Hannah and Joseph, and June and Hyrum.

If you can't tell, Hannah and her date are Perry the Platapus and Dr. Doofenshmirtz. Christina and her date are Phineas and Isabella.

At our house, they made hot cider with stroop waffles warmed on top. Then they played Compatibility. They had a lot of fun.

At some point, we paused everything to saber some bottles. It is a small tradition on June's dates so the guys can be initiated. Good luck guys.

If you go back and watch that video again, watch Sam (in the orange). He sliced his thumb open on the glass when he sabered the top. If you are looking for it, you can see him wince. He didn't tell anyone he was hurt for a long time and it was bleeding pretty badly. Finally he asked for a bandaid. Yikes. We've never had someone cut themselves before. Sorry Sam!

As usual, the kids didn't go to much of the dance. They left with only half an hour left to dance, but they said it was lame anyway. Too loud, and part of the gym was dark. Weird. But I think the date/dance was still a success and a fun time for all. June has really great friends.
