Young Women in Excellence 2019

This year's YW in Excellence was wonderful. All the girls in our ward are so talented. We had singing, dancing and piano playing. There were quilts and blankets sewn. And there was a lot of drawings. It seems unreal to have so many good artists in one area, but there is some definite art ability in the neighborhood. Robyn made some posters to put in the hallways the week before. I think they turned out so cute.

Check out some of these drawings displayed that night. This is a set Hannah did last year in art. She did the elements. They look amazing.

Jenna is great with everything, but I love her scenery. Look at this crosshatch piece. And her skeleton is so adorable.

Do you recognize these pieces from a local artist? Very local.

Eva is amazing with crochet. She has done so many things and she is so creative. Is that Perry the Platypus?

Abby is amazing at water color. She likes to paint with her sister and they do such cute designs.

June put her stitching on display. We have a few pieces that need to be framed still. (We are going to learn how.) Her work is exquisite and so time consuming. But I'm so happy that she likes to spend time with me crosstitching. When she talked about it, she even got a little emotional. Sharing talents with others can be special.

It was such a lovely evening. One of my favorite things was watching Jedmay dance. She has Down Syndrome and she doesn't always come to mutual, but it was beautiful to watch her share her talents. She is quite a good dancer doing traditional Polynesian and Mexican dances. Everyone has talents to share.

You may have noticed a lack of Ivory in this post. She was actually out performing that evening in a play, so she was in the middle of talenting. Several of the young women were in the production of Alice in Wonderland and couldn't be there. We missed them, but we know they are excellent too. Next up...pictures from Alice...
