Do You Prefer Strapless?

What do you think of when you hear the word, "straps"? What image comes to mind? I learned today that most people think of something private--even intimate.

Let me set the stage for you. I was gathered in a conference room this afternoon with a few members of the internet team. We were speaking to a client that's had a rough week, and they were a little upset. I was sharing my screen with them, demonstrating a mobile website we'd built for them. We had been getting along relatively nicely, right up until I received this message from Maleen (since I was sharing my screen, this message was very vividly displayed to my clients):

Maleen was explaining that hers had straps, in answer to my question (I had asked earlier...before we were in the conference call),  what do the straps do? Skimming the message, of course, you get these tantalizing phrases: it looks good, and it doesn't have the straps over the shoulder, fitting issues, do you need the straps?

Hmmm. Now what's in your mind?

Well, if you said "bra," you'd be on par with my clients. They all felt that I had left an extremely private conversation running in the background...not exactly professional. They felt the only professional thing to do was to notify me that they could see my embarrassing messages...oh boy. Now distracted from my presentation, and all eyes reading through my chat log with Maleen, I laughed out loud realizing what they must be thinking.

What was the chat really about? a back brace. hahahahahaha!

Yep. My 'back brace' in high school had STRAPS. The one online that we were looking at didn't. But the conversation is much funnier when it is taken out of context.

Haha it does sound exactly like a bra! I was trying to not think along the lines of a bra, and the only thing I could come up with was dress - but I love that it's a back brace.

Actually, I was thinking dress, which wouldn't be that risque. I hope the back brace will help. Bill is now wearing an athletic version of a truss. Isn't catering to our body's needs wonderful?
