In Disguise

Halloween can be a lot of work, but I feel like it is all worth it when the kids have a great time. And you should dress up whenever you get the chance. We had a neighborhood Fall Festival the Saturday before Halloween, so it was a perfect time to get in costume and take pictures. I'm loving how everyone looked this year.

Robyn's costume had me thinking the hardest. She wanted to be Cinder from the Lunar Chronicles. I think her look turned out pretty well. The red eye was added in Photoshop. She didn't have contacts.

Ivory wore the mermaid costume on hand. (I do reward kids for using costumes we have on hand instead of having to purchase or make new ones.) She looked so cute. June did her eyes differently to practice, but Ivory like the mismatch and ended up with the same style on Halloween.

The Cat costume has seen some good use. Pearl is just as cute as the other kittens we have had. I can't believe I got chili out of that costume after June wore it. This is probably our last year with this costume though. It was starting to get small for Pearl.

I tried to talk Daisy into doing the Vampire thing like Ivory did when she lost her front teeth. Daisy had her heart set on being a fairy, but I did manage to talk her into a fairy that seemed to go with those teeth.

I picked up a costume at a thrift store years ago planning to use it myself at some point. I hadn't gotten around to it, but it seemed like it would be perfect for June. And boy was it ever. (Don't miss the red heels.)

Tyler's and my costume was thrown together at the last minute, but I think it turned out really cute. It usually took people a minute to figure it out. Then people would tell us that the movie scared them when they were kids or that it was really sad. Yep...just bringing some childhood nostalgia where we can. (You're welcome.)

Here are a few outtakes from out photo session. We have such a good time together.

Snow painting the Hound. (June did most of the face paint this year since I spent all my time on the cyborg.)

Cyber Fox.

Don't eat that!!

Play nicely you too. Don't fight like...well, you know.

We had a great time at our Fall Festival in the evening. There were some fun costumes but not as many as there could have been. We didn't get any pictures, but I should mention that I got another award for my chili. Remember last year when I won by surprise? Well this year they gave awards to three chilis. Mine was one of them. Guess they can't resist a white chicken chili. I'm just sad they didn't have curry again.

Great costumes, as usual. Guess nobody could fit in the Nemo costume any more (let alone the strawberry one). I can hardly wait to see what you come up with next year!
